Viselle Saga

An original series spanning multiple games. Takes place across two worlds; Viselle and Tepira.

Timeline of Events:

A war is incited between two of Viselle's races; Humans and Wyrn. The humans became wary of the Wyrns' ability to communicate with mythical creatures known as Ancients. They began subjugating the Wyrn in an an attempt to control them and eventually, the Ancients. Their attempts backfired and the Wyrn began fighting back...with help from the ancients. A group of adolescents are caught in the middle of the brewing war, dubbed 'The Draconic War' for the vast numbers of dragons among the Ancients aiding the Wyrn. This group of would be heroes attempts to survive attacks from both sides while trying to negotiate peace.

Five hundred years later, Viselle is still scarred from the Draconic War. Drastic changes to civilization and the world itself have given rise to a new era; one of recovery and two new world superpowers. Tensions between the two are at an all time high and another world shattering war looms on the horizon. A knight from one of superpowers is sent on quest to a city of mages to find a way to win the war for his kingdom. En route to the city, his ship is attacked by an unknown force and he is left for dead.

One thousand years later, history keeps repeating itself; this time on a smaller scale. A civil war is brewing between two neighboring nations over a portal that leads to another world. People from both nations unite and attempt to negotiate peace while delving deeper into the mysteries of this other world. Unanswered questions about Viselle's past are answered and new questions arise.

Long forgotten feuds are reignited as another war begins two hundred years later. The lives of two best friends and those around them are thrown into chaos as a thirteen year long war destroys lives and threatens to eradicate the world completely. Allies become enemies, ancient evils rise and the already strained world is pushed to the brink.

In another world, a race known as Bestials has begun plans for world domination. Already they've taken half of the continent they share with humans. If they are not stopped, the entire world could fall to their armies. The Wyrn sit idly by, watching the conflict unfold. Their link with the Ancients guaranteeing their safety. Some say they're taking advantage of the war, manipulating both sides for their own benefit.

Races:

Humans: Currently the dominant species on the planet. They share a blood link with the Elves; albeit a diluted one and have devoloped some magical abilities over the centuries.

Elves: Descendants of the Wyrn; the once dominant species of Viselle, they resemble humans greatly. The only key differences are their pointed ears and proficiency in magic. Second most dominant species of Viselle.

Bestials: A race resembling humanoid animals of varying kinds. Consists of clans made up of the varying types that currently exist. While not as prominent as humans or elves, they are far from being a minority. Early ancestors weren't always humanoid in appearance.

Dragons: Descendants of reptilian clan of bestials that went extinct roughly six hundred years after the Draconic War. They share no link with the ancient dragons from ages past other than being similar in appearance and sharing the same name. How the clan of reptilian bestials achieved this type of evolution is unknown.

Ancients: Mythical creatures that existed in Viselle ages ago. Griffins, Phoenixs, Merpeople and the original Dragons. Currently the only ancients that exist in number are mermaids and they prefer to remain out of sight of those they refer to as 'LandWalkers'(Humans) out of fear. In the past, only Dragons and Mermaids existed in great numbers, Griffins were; and still are scarce to the point that their existence is believed to be nothing more than a fairy tale, even by other ancients. Phoenixs were thought to be myth, but have been sighted in the past.

Wyrn: A race similiar to the elves of present day in appaearance, there are a few differences. Their magical abilities ranged from weak to sage-like levels, they had a mental link with the ancients and to this day are the only ones capable of opening a portal to their world. After the Draconic War there numbers dwindled almost to the point of extinction, currently only a few hundred are known to exist.

Worlds

Viselle: A world whose main population consists of Humans, Elves and Bestials with Wyrn and Dragons remaining scarce. A few Ancients may still be around, as well. The world is constantly shattered and reshaped from generations of being plagued by various wars. The more recent wars have had a significantly smaller impact due to the absence of the Ancients and the bestial Dragon clan deciding to remain uninvolved. The geography has changed multiple times due the aftermath of the earlier, more violent wars but currently the western continent of Aldunia is mountainous with large grasslands, some forests and caverns sprikled across the continent.

The eastern continent of Estania is a marshy region with large swamplands and many thick forests with a few jungles here and there. The southern tip of the continent connects to Aldunia; a heavily guarded checkpoint sitting right on the border.

Marosia is a small island nation centered between Aldunia and Estania. Completely surround by water; the settlements consist mainly of fishing villages and port towns/cities. There few forest and mountains and a large desert, as well as a few underwater caverns. There are stories of a massive cavern that links Marosia with Aldunia and Estania.

There exists a world-in-between that is said to connect Viselle to Tepira and vice-versa. This world is more sacred to the Wyrn than Tepira as it houses the very source of magic that flows between both worlds. Because of this strong magical influence, it's shape shifts constantly; this is rumored to be a defense against would be explorers or invaders. The shifting is rumored to once every century making it difficult to keep track of the source of magic. The source itself is heavily guarded by nigh-impervious sentinels that wield the strongest magicks in existence. Very few people inhabit this world; all of them Wyrn. The settlements that do exist were established to guard valued Wyrn artifacts.

Tepira: Very little is known about Tepira; there are few records of it and those are protected by the Wyrn. What is known is that magic is more prominent there and there are three continents populated by Wyrn, Humans and Bestials.
